Outreach and Missions
All Saints Church is committed to taking the good news of the Gospel and loving care of Christ to those both near and far.
Ministries
Christ House
All Saints parishioners provide a nutritious dinner to the residents of Christ House every fourth Monday of the month. This established organization, located in Adams Morgan, provides medical treatment to the homeless community, as well as a host of other support, counseling, and day services.
Thrift Shop
The Thrift Shop is the fundraising arm of the Women of All Saints.
It is also a service to the community through outreach and social interaction. The shop gives away a limited amount of clothing to homeless people who are referred to the shop by a priest or other recognized organization and donates children's clothes to Bright Beginnings, in NE Washington, DC. Rebuilding Together
Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April has long been one of All Saints great community service activities. For more than 20 years, we've financially sponsored either the Montgomery County or Washington, DC, branch of this nationwide service organization. More importantly, we've provided volunteers to one or several houses in our community that needed TLC. We paint, repair walls, re-cover floors, replace windows, haul trash, clean, and do all sorts of other work to help those in need. And frankly, through all the work, dust, and grime--we have a great time!
Global Outreach
Global Outreach (GO) takes as its motto Christ's command to his disciples to take the good news of the Gospel to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Funds for the GO
budget come from monies allotted by the Vestry via the church budget, designated gifts to global outreach or specific global outreach projects, and fundraising endeavors (i.e. Christmas giving tree, Rwandan coffee ministry). Most of the GO budget goes to support various missionaries and mission projects worldwide.
Mark 9:37 Children's Home
The Mark 9:37 Children's Home was established in June, 2000 as a response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic which is so rapidly devouring the people of Namibia. At first, the Home simply provided meals and blankets to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) living on the street. By March 2001, the Home was able to offer reading and writing classes as well as Bible studies on Sundays. It was at this time that Namibian social workers approached the Home to ask if they would take in children in need of long term care. The Home now cares for 11 OVCs and continues to reach-out to OVCs in the surrounding area by providing them with a safe-haven, schooling, and food.
