Pastoral Care

The All Saints Pastoral Care ministry is dedicated to the mind, body, and spirit of the parish.  Prayer is essential and the prayers of the people, prayer room, and healing prayer ministry have been started or influenced by our Pastoral Care ministry.

Parish Callers - Calling You!

Can you visit someone who can't get to All Saints? The Parish Callers is a long standing group that's become a parish tradition. These caring men and women visit our homebound friends and members, offering Christian friendship - and it takes as little as 1 hour a week!

Stephen Ministry
For the past 30 years, Stephen Ministry has blossomed as an ecumenical movement throughout the U.S. and internationally. The focus is on developing, training, and enriching lay people of faith to bring Christ-centered care to those in need. Stephen Ministry is not a replacement for (nor in conflict with) other parish ministries or the pastoral care of clergy; rather, it is a powerful and deeply meaningful offering to integrate people of faith into ministry in the Body of Christ.

In 2003, All Saints formed our first Stephen Ministry which has benefited many members of our congregation by providing caring concern and prayers to members who are in crisis, grieving, depressed, experienced a loss, or in need of one-on-one care.

Stephen Ministry requires 50 hours of training under clergy guidance. Training includes instruction in establishing boundaries as care giver, crisis intervention, visitation, and confidentiality.

Home and Hospital Visits
It is not unusual for our ministry to make over 100 visits per month.  Our seniors, homebound, and hospitalized, greatly benefit by receiving calls, visits, flowers, homemade soup, prayers, communion, and the warmth and care of the church.

Soup for Saints
This program delivers soup and bread to homebound and post-operative parishoners. Volunteers are asked to choose a month, make approximately one gallon of soup or a batch of mini bread loaves, and deliver same to the church kitchen to be frozen until needed by visiting clergy. Containers, labels and instructions are provided. This is a wonderful outreach program and is joyfully received by those it serves! To get involved, please contact Judy Toland via jemtoland@aol.com or 202-362-7965.

Food Pantry
Our food pantry succeeds on the donations of our parish.  It feeds the homeless daily and provides the staff with an opportunity to pray with those in need.

Nursing
Nursing students are introduced and oriented to Parish Nursing at All Saints yearly.  It is our hope that spiritually based medicine will continue to grow.
