The Celebration of Discipline ~ Library
Led by Chad McCabe, All Saints Seminarian Intern
Resumes February 23
With the Advent Season upon us, what better way to start it off than by brushing up on the ancient disciplines of the Christian life? Whether you’re a faithful practitioner, novice or just curious — the disciplines are a great way to find solace from the hustle and bustle of this time of year and draw closer to God. Join us as we take this journey studying Richard Foster's “The Celebration of Discipline” and Adam Hamilton's "The Journey".
The Book of Romans ~ Memorial Hall
Presented by Dr. Scott Johnson ~ Georgetown University Profession, Author, Parishioner
Georgetown University professor and ASC parishioner Scott Johnson will “unpack” the book of Romans for us every Sunday through the new year.
Scott is the newly published author of The Oxford Handbook of Late Antiquity which offers an innovative overview of a period (c. 300-700 CE) that’s become increasingly central to scholarly debates over the history of western and Middle Eastern civilizations. This volume covers pivotal events like the fall of Rome, rise of Christianity, origins of Islam, and early formation of Byzantium and the European Middle Ages.
Adult Classes Bible Studies on the Word of God (9 AM)
Standing Under the Scriptures with the Rev. Ted Lewis in the Library
Looking for an intellectual challenge as well as a spiritual one? Check out our Standing Under the Scriptures class with Fr. Ted. We don’t stand under the Scriptures dogmatically. Instead we ask, "If we stand under them, what follows?" (In fact, exciting things follow!)
In elucidating what we stand under — we draw on the original Greek and Hebrew texts along with the findings of biblical scholarship. Come to the Library at 9:00am on Sunday mornings prepared for mental and spiritual exercise.
GO HERE for an archive of Fr. Ted's weekly class notices.
