We are grateful to God for the privilege of welcoming and including children into the life and ministry of All Saints Church. The joy of ministry to children includes the responsibility of protecting them from harm.
Children need to feel safe emotionally, spiritually and physically. All Saints Church adheres to best practices in child safety. Adults who lead our children are screened, trained and continually mentored to ensure their ministry glorifies God and blesses the children he/she serves.
All adults who work with children under the age of 18 must complete the
All Saints Church Application for Children & Youth Involvement and consent to a criminal background check. All adults working with children under the age of 18 must adhere to the
All Saints Child & Youth Safety Policies & Procedures.
All paid parish staff members and any volunteers working with All Saints Church parish and/or Preschool children under the age of 18 must complete the Episcopal Diocese of Washington’s “Safeguarding God’s Children” Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training course and renew the certification every three years. In case of a fire drill or need to evacuate children while in our care (during Kids' Church, Sunday School, etc.), teachers and volunteer leaders will escort the children to the Rectory where they can be reuntied with parents.
In case of imminent danger inside or outside of the All Saints Church facility, the staff and/or clergy will declare a "Lock Down" where teachers and those supervising children ages 0-18 have been instructed to harbor them in place. No child should be released to anyone, including parents, until the lock down is over and the all clear is announced over the intercom system.
